Note
Further etymology uncertain. MDV notes that there has been speculation about a possible connection with the Germanic 'bush' words (OHG busc, MDu. bosch, etc.): the exact form is uncertain: perhaps PGm. *būsk-. Note also PCelt. *bustis "che ha continuatori in area galloromanza" (NEI) cf. Ital. busto < VLat. *bustum <- Gaul. *bustis 'trunk, stem' (NEI)
